I love shoes! OMG i dont know how many pairs of shoes i have but one thing's for sure, i definitely have more shoes than undies!

I don't splurge a lot on my shoes. Heck, i dont even buy shoes above $30! Most of my shoes are under $20. Theyre not exactly dressy sexy shoes but enough for me to wear a coupla weeks, throw them away and get new ones.

This evening after Ayam Penyet (see earlier entry), 2 shops next to the store was this hidden gem. And why issit sucha hidden gem? Cuz they had shoes going for $5!!! It aint a shoe store, just one of those uhm, whaddya call them? Mini departmental stores kinda thing?

Anyways, their shoes arent exactly drop dead gorgeous but these 2 shoes below are pairs that i've been looking ard for and usually cost some $20-$30 at least. For $5, theyre a HUGE steal! Heh, check out e chinky names. But heck, like who's gonna check under my feet to see if theyre NineWest or whatever funky brand.

 

 

I actually came across this pair first cuz the one i was wearing kinda like almost gave way and i wanted something cheap with heels that i could use to come to places like erm, Lucky Plaza, or say Chinatown or Lil India or even just e downstairs shop.

 

 

Someone pls slap me hard. I've got a fetish for cheapo, cheena brand shoes tt ur typical auntie wud buy! But hee i'm so happy with my new shoes now!

With all the rage on bird flu, i somehow find it ticklish tt i ate chicken or rather i still love chicken.

When Thailand had bird flu 2yrs back, i went over and was popping kfc chicken like nobody's business. Recently, there's been this craze on Ayam Penyet. It's apparently an indonesian dish and erm, direct translation would mean crushed chicken. (indo experts, pls correct me!)

So i went to this store at Lucky Plaza cuz my best friend simply adores the place. Ayam Penyet RIA is nestled among some interestingly Filipino-ish/multi purpose stores at one of the side alleys on e 4th floor.

Aint exactly one of those high end restaurants but if u're looking for decently priced chicken rice with a unique taste and omfg hot chilli (sambal belacan), this is e place to go. Their wallpapers are pretty cool too, with images of Jakarta city life and some Indonesian scenery.

I've had ayam penyet before and food courts but this has to be e best. Apparently the secret is all in e seasoning. And i gotta agree, the taste really evokes some pretty strong senses.

When you first taste e chicken, e crispy skin gently breaks in btwn ur teeth as e juice oozes out onto your tongue. Further bites exude a rather mild taste of spices which gets stronger as u eat more.

As for the sambal belacan, unless ure into VERY HOT chilli, i wouldnt suggest u take more than a cm at each time. Don't say i didnt warn u!

When we left at abt 8pm, there was actually a queue of abt 10 pple waiting outside! Do check it out. It's gotta pretty good.   

Overall rating i'll give it 3 out of 5.

Donuts @ Cityhall anyone?

 

Ok so i aint exactly a donut fan but sometimes when the mood is right, hey, bring it on. But have any of u been to that donut store at e basement of city hall? Good lord! The queue goes past 4 freaking stores!  If not for the lover who commented he saw donuts (which if u read in btwn his lines tt wud mean hes keen to have some), i wouldnt have queued up for close to an hr.

And e verdict?

l  gave up. *shrugs*

 

I find it real dumb to queue up for something thats

1) mentioned by Sunday Times to be just “so-so”

2) claims to being 'cooked on e spot' but when u actually go to e main store, all e donuts are staring in ur face

3) has so many bloody staff standing ard doing gawd knows what (which explains e long queue.maybe its all a conspiracy! they hire lotsa staff to make it look like theres a lot of pple buying their donuts hence e need for more manpower. but they dont actually work and so e work piles up, e queue gets longer and pple think theyre delicious since theres sucha long queue for it!)

4) just so bloody long! this girl a few steps in front of me came up to her friend who had been queueing earlier than her and commented how she was walking ard e place at 4pm and saw the lady on a wheelchair some 5m in front of her friend in e queue and yet at 6pm e lady was STILL not even near e store! *gasps* 

 

So what's your verdict? Is it really that delicious?

And no, i wasn't at e end of the queue. The queue went up till the mini water fountain area where that icecream place is. Geeeeeee….

So it's confirmed. My grandad has been struck with e 2nd cancer. Doc gives abt 6 mths to live.
