Aerin’s
2007-02-16Aerin's at Raffles City B1
It is crazy to visit any restaurant on V Day night. Really, just ask around and I reckon u'll hear horror stories of queuing up like mad. I'm not just referring to high end restaurants for the uber romantics. Im referring to regular places like Cafe Cartel, Jack's Place, Swensens, Crystal Jade etc. Heck, don't even bother with the food courts!
Unless ur lover is some kinda casanova who has planned everything out and booked a place before hand..well uhm..good luck ![]()
I decided not to celebrate V day through a dinner, rather have it during lunch. Simply cuz 1) im too lazy to queue, 2) e food's hell lot cheaper! 3)chances of the chef screwing ur food cuz theyre doing bulk cooking is lowered and uhm 4) i just wanna do something different this year.
(Different i was, which u'll find out in my other entries later *winks* heh heh)
Anyways, so I dropped by Aerin's at the basement of Raffles City. There's been some hype abt the place and i've seen some articles on it. I thot like “hey, not bad, lets check this place out” So i went and this is how the place looks:

General view. Nothing special. Just nondescript decor

Water fountain in the middle of the restaurant

Seating. Chair's were soo not comfy!
And babes, be careful. The flooring has this super slippery effect. I felt i was gliding along all the way.
Check out the cutlery below. This has gotta be the first place i've been to with 'stand-on-its-own' knives! Worried about eating something then slipping ur knife when u place it by e side of ur plate? No worries, this knife is cool enough to prop itself up! Innovative, heh.

This is what i ordered. The cajun chicken.

I'm extremely disappointed. The chicken tasted like regular fried chicken and check out the sauce. It's TOMATO SAUCE with diced capsicum and carrrot. That's not how cajun sauce is made. Cheapo!

My date ordered the daily special. The beef wasn't too bad. Tho there was waaay too much black pepper sauce, the taste of the meat was still pretty strong. The mash potatoes weren't too bad either. They had some crunchy feeling in it due to the water chestnuts.

This is why i didn't like my chicken. Felt as tho i was eating overnight chicken that was refried again. Look at how super dry the meat is!

Worse still, check out the amount of fat under that skin! Is someone trying to compete with KFC on who can serve more fatty chicken?

Overall, service was so-so and the bill? OUCH! Considering we didn't order any drinks or dessert, i expected something a lil better. Or at least for that price.

Overall, i give this place 2 out of 5.
