Looked thru my food pics and realised I have tons of pics of my past food fest tt I have yet to blog. I took this one recently and wanted to share with u all.

I noticed tt there are a lot of pple who have never tried or even heard of Ajisen. Im not exactly a fan of them but looking at those pics again made me hungry.

Ajisen can be found ard e world and i think, if im not wrong..is a SIngapore food chain..someone pls do correct me on this.

Anyways, i'll let e pics do e talking. The chicken was orgasmic!

Delicioussss

2007-07-17

More food postings were supposed to be uploaded but unfortunately i've lost some of the pics! Dammit! Dunno where they disappeared to. Anyways, managed to find my 2 MOST FAVORITE food items from HK..apart from the sausage mcmuffin wif egg hehehe…,

This is the omg-so-delicious-so-mouth-watering-out-of-this-world-pork-chop-bun! If there's ever a reason for me to go back to HK, it'd be for this cute lil porkies! Just look at it! Doesn't it just make u salivate? The bun is sooo yummy! Crispy on the outside, but warm and soft on the inside. Laden with 2 juicy pieces of THICK pork chops that were marinated in something gingery, this is THE bomb man!

Just look at how delicious this is! It's driving me crazy just looking at e pics again.. *droooools* It looks so plain but e gingery pork chops with melted cheese in btwn a soft bun is soo amazing!

You CANNOT leave HK without trying this..or else you'll be SOOO sorry! I give this a million stars out of 10! HAHAHA

Coming in next has gotta be the french toast. I went to this place called Mido Cafe in Yau Ma Tei (i think, or wassit Jordan?) and i tried their regular toast with condensed milk..but seriously, u HAVE to try this. It's just so different.

It comes in 2 slices with peanut butter inside and then put together like a sandwich. After that, it's coated with eggs and deep fried. They place a slice of butter on top of it while it piping hot and serve it with maple syrup. In case you guys didnt know, i LOVE maple syrup. lotsa places cannot differentiate honey and maple syrup. and i really hate it when they serve things with honey. feels like having a million bees in my mouth or something.

Anyways..look at how much maple syrup i poured! HAHA..but its sooo delicious!

So whatcha waiting for? GO book your tickets to HK now! (this soo sounds like a chan brothers advertisement or something HAHA..duh no..this is NOT an advertorial..tho im open to doing advertorials!)

HK Food!

2007-07-13

Updates with PICS! Since im feeling better now, thot i'd share some info with you peeps on my trip to HK over the weekend. It was a pretty short 4D3N trip just to get away. I honestly didnt prepare much cuz it was a relatively last minute trip. Friends suggested we get away since e company was having a short break due to some mgmt meetings so we thot why not yea?

I arrived in HK kinda excited. Afterall, it was my virgin trip to the land of shopping and more shopping! Oh, and delectable dimsum and roast meats!

So how was my trip?

Pretty disappointing :(

Yea i know in e past post i raved abt e good food and all e fun. Well, who goes overseas and doesnt have fun? I had fun but it wasnt enough to wow me to wanna go back.

For one, i HATE walking. I notice HK is a place where u gotta walk and CLIMB a lot..especially at e mid levels area and e MTRs. I guess walking was kinda fun cuz it helped us look at the HK daily life better. But when u gotta walk and climb up and down stairs just to find regular dimsum places around Central and Sheung Wan, suddenly it was no longer fun. In fact, i had problems walking. (What to do, im so fat!) My legs were giving up and a fellow friend had walked so much tt he just fell on e floor after his legs went numb!  What to do, we walked ard Mongkok for 3hrs straight! Hehe we're crazy tourists..

Seen at the stairs of the MTR

A word of caution for people who arent used to walking or those who adore walking in heels or more bigger sized people..do come prepared cuz theres a LOT of walking!!!

So..walking aside. Let's talk abt food.

That's one of the things i was disappointed by. I guess i had my hopes up too high. Frequent HK travelling friends told me how wonderful e dimsum in HK are..so of course i was expecting orgasmic dimsum. Unfortunately, i didnt have anything tt was out of this world. I think even SG's crystal jade is better. The dimsum here lacked a certain kind of oomph and they add interesting greenish thingy into e food tt i totally hate. It was sooo disappointing tt i didnt even take any pics.

Thankfully, i had e roast meat food.  See how delicious it is?!?!?!?!?! Unlike SG where they always give u thin slices, in HK, e meats are always thick and juicy!!!! Just thinking abt it makes me drool. Oh btw, i notice tt HKies eat a lot of rice. I can NEVER finish even 1/10th of e rice they give! Its like one HUGE bowl of rice. But heheh i shant complain cuz e food is good. Which reminds me, it totally explains how come HKies arent fat even tho they eat so much rice and meat. They exercise so much from all tt walking and climbing!!! hahaha..

The roast duck here is truly orgasmic. The skin is sooo crispy but e meat is like chicken! Wonderfully tender!

The roast pork is so crispy but with a wonderfully peppery and salty taste. The charsiew? Delectably sweet and tender! Don't be fooled by e bowl. It's actually bigger than e size of my head! That's how huge e serving is!!! Imagine how thick and big e meats are! (ooh tt sounds kinda naughty *winks*)

Oh, i had Yoshinoya there. I dunno maybe its just me but i feel e Yoshinoya there was MUCH nicer. The beehoon was light and had a nice flavor tt didnt mask e beehoon taste. And e beef was more wholesome. The juices burst out of e beef when u chewed it. It felt sooo good!

One more thing! I know this is sooo crazy but i went mad over Mcdonalds Sausage Mcmuffin with egg! In Hongkong, their breakfast items are available all day! Wonderful isnt it! And e SME uses pork (i think). It tastes like e one i had in US. Anyways, it was sooo delicious. I ate 2 up ate one go :( i know i know, im sucha fat pig..but its sooo delicious! It tastes nothing like e SG one. SG's nice but this is WAY NICER!!! They serve thai sweet chilli overe here..

Ok, am gonna update more on my other food! Hehehhe

Tuna

BEST tuna sandwich ever!

Sometime last year (or wassit e yr before), good old Delifrance decided that either they were getting boring or werent making enough money and decided they shd turn from a sandwich parlour into a bistro shit.

To give them credit, their sandwiches are STILL e BEST. Can't say e same for all their other new products. Then again, e beef lasagne i had at tampines was pretty impressive.

For me, i love mainly 2 things at Delifrance. The sandwiches, which is usually tuna or chicken mayo..and their other puffs like the chicken filleute (how e fuck do u spell tt?!) e curry stuff and some of their sweet muffin like thingies.

Unfortunately, they dont have all of that in Manila and so yesterday i had this for lunch.

Honestly, it was sooooooooooooooooooo delicious! I LOVE it when tuna sandwich is a bit sour. I dunno why but it always just taste best when its a lil sour. I wish i cud have 1 more cuz e sandwich is only abt 2/3 e size of e one in Singapore. Unfortunately, costing some 4 bucks, i decided not to.

I am so drooling now.

Will Delifrance Manila be sucha sweetie and sponsor a yr's supply of tuna sandwiches to me pls? Pretty pwease????

(On a side note, do try their sausage croissant. So big and juicy..just like how i always love all my sausages *wink wink*)

Pizza Hut

Manila Pizza Hut!

I ordered some pizza the other night. You know those cheesy pops thingy that you have in Singapore too? I've always wanted to try it but somehow never did cuz i dunno, i was just afraid it'll suck? lol

Anyways, it was raining e other day and i was tired of Maccers and KFC so i figured i shd give Pizza Hut a shot since afterall the pizzas here are cheaper cuz of e currency exchange.

I ordered their meal which came with a regular cheesy pop pizza, a pepsi max, some chicken wings, garlic bread and it came with some really disgusting hersheys chewy choc candy shit.. it was so shitty i wanted to puke..

Cute box isnt it? How come Singapore doesnt have cute boxes like theirs?

This looks so huge! It's got like 20 pops or whatever  they call it. The cheesy thingy tt u can pull out.  It actually isnt all that huge. I ordered this to share with a colleague and it was just nice for 2 of us. The cheesy pops got a lil sick after awhile. Wasnt sure if it was cuz of e cheese or e fact tt we had to chew and chew and chew..yea it was a lil hard.

In Singapore, e garlic breads are basically a loaf of bread. In Manila, it seems that they have it on slices. The garlic bread wasnt a winner btwn us so it was left alone. In e background are e chicken wings..and e yucky hershey candy thingy. Apologies for e blur pic, i was overly excited abt eating e chicken! :P

Yummy chicken wings! i LOVE chicken. My favorite part is actually e drumlets..(not e drumstick) and possibly even e ribs and thighs. Which reminds me, KFC in Manila serves up different body parts unlike Singapore. That story for another day. Anyways, for this chicken wings which i think was something like New Orleans flavor or something..it was lip smacking goooooooooood. Pinoys, PLS order this when u order pizza! I promise u wont regret it!

The chicken is oh so fine..its so nicely cooked. The meat is wonderfully tender but doesnt break off the skin too easily. The marinate was soaked thru e meat so u can taste e sweetness right thru e bone. It was soooo delicious!

Oh yea, a closer look at a slice of e pizza. The ingredients area ie e meat, veg, salami etc was very little. I wish they had more of it.

Overall, for a meal below SGD$20, it was not too bad for an overseas meal.

:)

Foood

2007-06-14

Been a while since i posted abt food, so here it goes.

The afternoon i was due to fly off to Manila, i took a drive down to Bukit Panjang to check out Missy Donuts. The Sunday Times had given it 4/5 stars so i thot why not rite?

Gee i queued up for like 1hr and 20mins. Goodness. I just dont think it was worth it. I still think Vinco Donuts are still e best!

The queue wasnt too long, barely abt 7-8m long. But due to e 2 really slow and blur cashier girls, it took forever. Add it up with annoying old women who spend 20mins fighting with e cashiers over 10cents and indecisive pple who only start to choose what donuts they want when they reach e counter..it felt like forever!

The staff werent e best either. They were slow and stood ard doing almost nothing. This is where they fried e donuts.

Packaging is chirpy but how's e donuts really like?

Limited options. Unlike Vinco's tt i LOVEEEE, Missy Donuts make e donuts based on whats available tt day. Meaning altho they might have a whole menu, there werent any Blueberry as indicated. Their donut flavors are boring. Nothing exciting. Heck, they had 3 chocolate options. I mean yea we love chocolate but be creative pple!

Their donuts are indeed a lil crispy on e outside and soft on e inside. but wen u actually chew into it, it softens so badly tt it makes a mess on u. A good donut shd be crispy on e outside but warm and soft on e inside without compromising its shape. Missy Donuts goes out of shape e moment u bite into it and just sinks. The chocolate ended up all over my blouse and fingers. Fuck! :(

Vinco's still rules! Read more abt it here :)
